Rothschild Makes Two Major New Appointments

Rothschild Private Banking & Trust has made two major new appointments, naming Marco Schaller as head of service management and offering development, and Andreas Bickel as head of strategic asset allocation and advisory in Switzerland.

Schaller was latterly with UBS, where he had held various roles, including global head of financial intermediaries, head of Italy for investment products and services and – most recently – global head of value-based investing.

Bickel joins from Goldman Sachs, where he was head of the portfolio management group, a member of the extended management committee and an employee representative on the foundation board of the pension fund. Before this he was head of portfolio management and advisory services at Clariden Leu.

Schaller has been hired as part of a drive to build up a more comprehensive investment offering, Rothschild said in a statement.

Bickel, meanwhile, will head up both research operations and wealth management mandates for ultra high net worth clients, along with overseeing the management of the Rothschild Bank pension fund.

“Strategic asset allocation is of great importance for UHNW clients in particular. By heading up the research operations at the same time as retaining a client facing role, Andreas will perform an extremely important interface function,” said Luca Dal Dosso, head of investment research and advisory.

Schaller and Bickel take up their Zurich-based roles on 1 December and 1 September, respectively.
